Dr. Mashael Abdulazizi Alhajeri, One of the AWLN highly praised members, received the UNISCO King Hamed Bin Isa Al Khalifa Honorable Prize For outstanding projects that use ICTs  to enhance teaching, learning and overall educational performance for the year 2006.

The Civil Law-Teaching Website for Arab Law Students, set up by Kuwait University and developed by Dr. Mashael Alhajeri and Eng.AMr Salah Abo Hamer has received and exceptional prize and great  recognition from the jury of the prize, as being one of the best models for using the Internet in Legal Education.

May we congratulate you for this great achievement, we are very proud that and Arab University professor, who is a member in the Arab Women's Legal Network was bestowed this special prize.

 

 On August 6, 2006, the General Assembly of the UN elected Bahraini Ambassador, Haya Rashid Al Khalifa, to head the 61st session of the General Assembly that will begin next September. Sheikha Haya, an experienced lawyer, is the third woman to be elected to the presidency of the UN General Assembly. Sheikha Haya is a founding member of the AWLN and has been a member of the Executive Board since the Network's establishment in 2005.

On June 6, 2006, for the first time in the history of Bahrain, the King of Bahrain, Hamad Bin Issa Al Khalifa, issued a Royal Decree appointing a woman to the position of judge at the Grand Civil Court. Ms. Muna Al Kawari – a member of the Network – is the first woman to assume this post not only in Bahrain, but in all of the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
